One of the most disappointing things witnessed over my 30- years in this business has been watching homeowners make poor decisions. From a poor decision on their builder selection, to making uneducated decisions during construction, without guidance. This behavior leads to unnecessary suffering from frustration, confusion, and overwhelm, resulting in bad design, mental fatigue, and unforeseen financial strain.
Quite often these poor decisions began first with bad house plans. By hiring either an inexpensive/inexperienced draftsman, or an architect with limited residential design/build knowledge, this one failure will often create the recipe for a miserable, disastrous project.

Hello, I'm so glad you stopped in! I have been in the homebuilding industry since before high school... A pretty long time. After graduating from Lander University in Greenwood, SC, I began working for an A&E firm, eventually operating the residential design division of a 23- person firm. In 1997 I started my own firm, designing both custom homes and light commercial buildings, building upper-end homes, and eventually, design/build for commercial building interior up-fit spaces for retail and franchise establishments.
In time, my company grew into the Myrtle Beach SC custom homebuilding market, and later relocated to Columbia, SC where I designed and built many upper-end homes around Lake Murray. I decided upon a change in 2023, and relocated my family and the design firm to Nashville, Tennessee, to better pursue my love of country music as a vocalist in Music City.

Our Mission. HausPlanned is founded upon the intent of helping people realize and experience good design and building practice, and to offer guide to our clients through the often drudgerous selection/planning process during homebuilding, and working with a builder.
For more than 30 years, Ty has believed that everyone who wants to build should be treated as a person, not as just a number. That was never more realized than when Ty went to work for a mass production builder immediately after the economic collapse of 2008. A time of great turmoil in the building industry, when design work was extremely scarce. However, immediately, Ty understood that the conversation had changed when it came to the people... They were no longer clients, they were now viewed as customers. No longer people, they had become just a number. That mentality has hung around for many builders since 2008.
That reality struck Ty as he felt strongly that he did not want to operate and treat his clients that way. Ty saw his integrity being faced with a probable negative impact if he were to accept this change. Instead, he chose to reignite and reestablished the firm in the slow recovering economy, and shifted the focus towards a boutique styled firm intent on helping with more than simply doing for. This created a betterment that resonated a craft, a niche, but more importantly a highly valued, appealing - and greatly appreciated - service to his small number of clients, per year.
Treating clients like people, holding their hands throughout not only the design process but also through interior/exterior design product selection and the building process, whether with another builder or as the builder, was the chosen path. And a good one that has served the company well, and has continued through Ty's family moving to Tennessee in 2025.
HausPlanned was imagined through the re-branding and sistering of Ty's South Carolina residential design company, founded in 1997 firm, which remains established in both Carolinas to this day.
